The writing field is wide open. There are technical writers, editors, copywriters, desktop specialist writers, content writers, press release writers, proofreaders, you name it. Some people have one area mastered, while others are mostly generalists. I like to think that I fall somewhere in between.
My specialties include article writing, press releases, web content, and SEO. The latter is part of the first three specialties as SEO involves optimizing a website for maximum search engine performance.
Although I still do a limited number of projects where I write bulk articles and return them to the client for their use as is, I prefer to spend my time on smaller projects of greater length: magazine quality articles where I thoroughly research the topic, interview three or more people, and craft an article that has staying power. In addition, I supplement my work with web content and press release projects as they come up.
